Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) é o responsável pelo departamento de arquivo e revelação de fotografias da tradicional revista Life. Ele é um homem tímido, levando uma vida simples, perdido em seus sonhos. Ao receber um pacote com negativos do importante fotógrafo Sean O'Connell (Sean Penn), ele percebe que está faltando uma foto. O problema é que trata-se justamente da foto escolhida para ser a capa da última edição da revista. É quando, Walter, com o apoio de Cheryl (Kristen Wiig) é obrigado a embarcar em uma verdadeira aventura.

Walter Mitty (Ben Stiller) is the department responsible for the file and photo developing traditional Life magazine. He is a shy man leading a simple life, lost in his dreams. Upon receiving a packet with the major negative Photographer Sean O'Connell (Sean Penn), he realizes that he is missing a picture. The problem is that it is precisely the picture chosen to be the cover of the latest issue of the magazine. That's when Walter, with the support of Cheryl (Kristen Wiig) is forced to embark on a real adventure.

Él es un hombre tímido que lleva una vida sencilla, perdido en sus sueños. Al recibir un paquete con el mayor negativo fotógrafo Sean O'Connell (Sean Penn), se da cuenta de que le falta una foto.
