Nathan (Grégoire Colin) está em um retiro rural para uma reunião de família. Claire (Bérénice Bejo), sua esposa, precisa anunciar sua gravidez e há decisões difíceis a serem tomadas para evitar que o negócio da família vá à falência. Mas, na primeira noite em que eles se reúnem, um cervo aparece misteriosamente e ataca o pai de Claire. Os homens decidem se aventurar na floresta ao redor da casa para encontrar as possíveis razões para o comportamento estranho do animal. Carregando uma espingarda, pela primeira vez em sua vida e vivenciando as tensões crescentes entre os homens da família, Nathan logo descobre que a temporada de caça ainda não acabou. Agora, eles se tornaram a presa.

Nathan (Grégoire Colin) is a rural retreat for a family reunion. Claire (Bérénice Bejo), his wife, needs to announce her pregnancy and there are tough decisions to be taken to prevent the family business from going bankrupt. But on the first night they meet, and a deer appears mysteriously attacks Claire's father. The men decide to venture into the forest around the house to find the possible reasons for the strange behavior of the animal. Carrying a shotgun for the first time in his life and experiencing the growing tensions between the men in the family, Nathan soon discovers that hunting season is not over yet. Now, they've become the prey.
