A menina prodígio Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) luta para se tornar uma estrela, enquanto passa por problemas que separam sua família. Vinda de uma área próxima a Detroit e filha de mãe solteira (Whitney Houston), ela tenta equilibrar um romance com o empresário musical Stix (Derek Luke) enquanto lida com os desafios inesperados que sua nova vida traz a ela e suas duas irmãs (Carmen Ejogo e Tika Sumpter), que formar um grupo musical durante a Era Motown.

The prodigy Sparkle (Jordin Sparks) struggles to become a star while passing by problems that separate your family. Coming from an area near Detroit and daughter of a single mother (Whitney Houston), she tries to balance romance with music entrepreneur Stix (Derek Luke) while dealing with the unexpected challenges that her new life brings her and her two sisters (Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter), who form a musical group during the Motown Era.
